Causeway Watersports is family-owned and operated and we have been on the causeway between Nags Head and Manteo since 2012.  The owners operate the business and are local year-round residents.
Causeway Watersports top priority is safety and your safety comes first.   are the only company on the Outer Banks that adheres to the WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association) parasail standards.  WSIA sets guidelines for the parasail industry as to what is safe regarding weather, equipment, crew, training, and operations.  Check out the WSIA standards on our website. We are always watching the weather reports and keeping a close eye on wind conditions. This may mean that flights may be restricted or cancelled should the wind condition change.
All our Parasail Captains have a USCG license. Coast Guard regulations state that 50% of the crew has to be CPR and First Aid certified.  OBX Parasail goes above and beyond this requirement by having 100% of the Crew CPR and First Aid certified.  OBX Parasail has a rigorous training program that teaches all Crew employees how to prepare for those things that happen out of the ordinary and how to safely get the flyers back on board the boat safely if any incident occurs. Captains and Crew employees return year after year and together have 30+ years in the parasail industry.  Check out our Comparison Chart on the website to further see how OBX Parasail differs from other parasail companies on the Outer Banks.
Due to the extreme popularity of our rides and limited space available reservations are highly recommended. Reservations should be made at least 1-2 days in advance.
We have a very strict “zero tolerance” 48-hour cancellation policy. If you or someone in your party must cancel for any reason within 24-48 hours of your schedule flight, you will be rescheduled for another day. Same day cancellations will be rescheduled to the next available early morning time slot.  Sorry no exceptions!
We have coupons in local publications and on our website. Also, be sure to call 252-441-8875 and ask about our recent specials and to make a reservation.

Our customers consider the word “fun” to be an understatement! Amazing, thrilling, and enthralling are also great words to describe Parasailing and Waverunner riding. Check out what some our most recent customers have to say on Facebook!
We do offer a picture package you can purchase when parasailing so be sure to ask about it so you are free to focus on the fun. Of course you are welcome to bring your own camera, video equipment or cellphone. However, we are not responsible for any loss or damage to your personal property.

Parasail flights are generally 12 minutes long. Please keep in mind that time is needed for boat and rigging preparations, a safety briefing, the boat trip to the launch area, etc.
We can take up to six passengers on the boat. Not parasailing? Ask about our “ride-along” rate so you can watch and take pictures of your family and friends.
If there is enough room in the boat we do love to have observers. Be sure to make your “ride-along” reservations when you are making your flight reservations.
If you can sit, you can fly!  No experience or talent is necessary.
Children must be a minimum age of 2 to fly with an adult. Our oldest flyer was a woman 98 years young. All age groups subject to the Captain’s approval.
This can depend on the wind and sea conditions at the time of your flight.  Our Captain will determine safest combinations of weight on the parasail if need be – max 400 lbs per flight.  Triples can be done with 3 small adults but are generally for 3 children, 2 children and adult, or 2 adults and one child.  All weight categories subject to the Captain’s approval.
Tandem is two people flying together side by side.  All flight options are subject to Captain’s approval.
The Captain will make this decision at the time of your parasailing adventure once your weights, and the wind and water conditions are evaluated. Depending on the wind and water conditions you should be prepared to fly either solo or tandem.
We have what is call “Winch Direct Parasailing”. It is the most commonly accepted form of parasailing.  “Winch Direct Parasailing” allows you to safely take off and land from the flight deck of the boat. It’s kind of like flying a kite with a fishing pole.  Using the hydraulic winch you are slowly reeled out from the boat’s flight deck. After enjoying your birds-eye view of the Outer Banks you are then reeled right back to where you started!

Parasail Options:

500 Foot Line – Single/Double/Triple – 12 minute flight 1000 Foot Line – Single/Double/Triple – 12 minute flight
For you safety, dipping depends on the wind and weight conditions. With good conditions, the Captain may be able to give you the choice of a Toes or Nose dip. We will make every effort to accommodate your choice conditions permitting. Sometime is may be necessary to land you in the water. In this case you will get very wet!
We suggest you wear beach attire: shorts, bathing suits, sandals, tennis shoes, etc. You might also want to bring a towel and a sweatshirt or wind breaker just in case.
Swimming is not necessary. We require all participants to wear a life vest while flying or riding in the boat.

Due to the nature of needing to refuel the jet ski’s, we only offer hour-long rental blocks. You’re certainly welcome to rent for more than one rental block in a single day, so long as we don’t have other reservations.
Maximum of 2 riders per waverunner.
Waverunners are generally easy to ride, even for a beginner! The orientation lasts about 20 minutes.
To rent or operate a waverunner you must be 18 years of age with a valid drivers license and credit card.

The view of the Outer Banks from the water’s edge is amazing. Depending on the weather and conditions you may get a glimpse of Hatteras Island National Seashore and some of it’s aquatic inhabitants including a large array of water fowl and possibly dolphins!
You don’t need a special boating license, only a regular drivers license. For safety reasons, all passengers must be a minimum of 42 inches tall.
