Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer off-site rentals?

Unfortunately, we do not offer off-site rentals at this time. For off-site rentals, we recommend Outer Banks Kayak Adventures.

Where can we go?

We have a maze of undeveloped islands just to the south of our location. These islands offer shallow and calm waters with minimal traffic. There are some great hidden spots for fishing. We are also very closely situated to the “Little Bridge,” which is a fishing hot spot in Nags Head, NC.

Am I required to have a fishing license?

Yes, the state of North Carolina requires anyone 16 years of age or older to hold a valid NC fishing license. We do not provide an onsite license purchase, though these can be purchased at most bait and tackle locations or can be obtained here.

Can we bring our own fishing gear?

Of course! With multiple rod holders and ample rear storage, these kayaks are designed with fishing and stability in mind.

Do you provide any fishing gear or bait?

We do have fishing rods and reel rentals available that can be added to your rental.

We rent 7′ Penn Battle 2 combos that come pre-spooled with 20 lb braid, mono leader, a quick-connect swivel shackle, and 5 hooks. Each rod rental is $25 and is only valid for the duration of the rental.

Limited tackle & bait are for sale at our location; a more extensive selection can be found next door at Fishing Unlimited or any other local bait and tackle shop.

What kind of fish could we catch?

Common local fish can be Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Striped Bass, Spot, and many other species can be found on the sound-side waterways of the Outer Banks. We recommend checking with local bait and tackle shops for the local report and what the best lures or bait to use are.

Do you offer sales of Santa Cruz kayaks?

Yes, though we do not have inventory on-site, we can assist with the purchase of any Santa Cruz kayak, parts, or accessories. More information can be found here about different options.
