Frequently Asked Questions

Does the parasailing boat leave from your location?

No unfortunately the water at our location is too shallow, so you will need to sign waivers and make payment at our location “Causeway Watersports”. You will then need to drive to “Shallowbag Bay Marina” which is about five minutes from our location. We provide a detailed map with driving instructions and GPS coordinates to take with you, this will also be your flight ticket to get on the boat.

How long does the Outer Banks parasailing adventure last?

Each parasail flight is 10 minutes long. The overall time spent on the parasail boat depends on how many flights are scheduled and can be up to 1.5 hrs. Please keep in mind that time is needed for boat & rigging preparations, a safety briefing, and the boat trip to the launch area and back, etc.

How many passengers can go on the boat, and what about observers?

We can take up a maximum of 12 passengers on the boat per trip. If you have more than 12 people in your group, please contact us, as we can book “back-to-back” boats to accommodate your party.

There is a $40 charge per observer. We guarantee 1 observer spot per group (if there is room). Additional observer spots are not guaranteed, but are allowed if space permits at the time of departure.

How much experience does the captain have and what is your safety record?

First off, parasailing is one of the safest Watersport activities if done properly. Each of our parasail captains has over 15 years of flying experience. Our captains have directly trained many of the parasail operators on the Outer Banks. They hold a valid United States Master’s captain’s license and are enrolled in the WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association), our governing body, and strictly adhere to all ASTM Standards.

We have a perfect safety record by using the best equipment, having years and years of experience, consistent training, industry connections and contacts, and following a simple Motto: If we wouldn’t fly our family members, we will not fly yours!

Is there an age limit for parasailing in Outer Banks, or an athletic requirement?

Children must be 3+ to ride on the boat, and 5+ and weigh at least 40 lbs to fly with an adult. Our oldest flyer was a woman, 98 years young.

All age groups are subject to the Captain’s approval at the time, based on the current weather conditions.

Generally speaking, if you can sit, you can fly! No prior experience or talent is necessary.

If you have any concerns about health or mobility issues, we always recommend erring on the side of caution. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Do you offer single flyers?

We currently do not offer single flyers.

Is there a weight limit to go Outer Banks parasailing?

Generally speaking about 450 pounds; however, this can depend on the wind and sea conditions at the time of your flight. Our Parasail Captain will determine the safest combinations of weight in the parasail if need be. Triples can be done with 3 small adults but are generally for 3 children, 2 children and an adult, or 2 adults and one child. All weight categories subject to the Captain’s approval.

Do I need to know how to swim to go parasailing in the Outer Banks?

Swimming is not necessary. It is required for all participants to wear a life vest while flying, and anyone under the age of 13 to wear one at all times on the boat.

Do you provide a photo package?

We offer a Photo package for $40 for the first flight and $10 for each additional flight.

Photo packages: Include 50+ high-quality photos per flight.

Photo packages are paid for on the Parasail boat. Please be prepared to make payment with either cash or most payment Apps. If you would like to add a photo package to your flight/s please just let your parasail crew know, and they will be happy to accommodate.

Is tipping customary?

Your captain and crew work very hard to provide both a safe and fun experience, generally working long hours in the sun. As with any service-related industry, a 20% tip for quality service is customary. Our staff greatly appreciates any gratuity.

Will we get wet?

We do offer a dip in the water. With favorable conditions, the Captain will be able to give you a refreshing dip in the water at the end of your flight. However, there are certain instances where we are unable to offer the “dip”; we will make every effort to accommodate your choice, conditions permitting.

Keep in mind you will be on a boat, and there is always the possibility of getting wet! Please plan accordingly. **We accept no liability for any lost or damaged items you bring.**

How should we dress and what to bring for parasailing?

We suggest you prepare for a trip to the beach.

Attire: shorts, bathing suits, sandals, etc.

You might also want to bring a hat, sunscreen, towels, food and drink, and a tip for the crew.

You will be asked to leave your shoes behind at the dock and to apply sunscreen prior to boarding.

We depart from a full-service marina that sells snacks, beverages, clothing, etc if you forget anything.
